How to cook roast pork on your Weber Q is a straight forward process ,  follow these simple steps and you will be eating the best roast pork that you have ever tasted , It literally will melt in your mouth. I have based the following cooking times and steps on a 1.5kg roll roast pork. If you are using a larger piece then I will let you know the cooking times at the end. As always with roast pork ensure that you leave the pork out of the refrigerator for at least 2 hours prior to cooking , this will allow the meat to come to room temperature.

Preparing my roast pork for the Weber Q

One of the most important parts of any roast pork is ensuring that the crackling is crunchy but soft at the same time , now using a sharp knife , you will need to score the top of the rind , firstly cut vertically down the rind and then horizontally across , remember to cut through the rind all the way down to the fat , this ensures that the juices from the fat rise back onto the rind. Now spray or baste the entire outside of the rind with lots of oil, the next step is very important , use at least a handfull of salt and rub it all over the rind top and bottom , now allow this to sit for at least 30minutes before you start cooking.

Preparing your weber Q for cooking your roast pork

You will definitely need to use a Weber roasting skillet , now firstly you must fold some aluminum foil , use a double layer this will sit under the roasting skillet and directly on the grill , this creates a barrier between the grills and the bottom of your roasting pork , now put your roasting skillet over the top of the foil and carefully cut slits within the foil to allow the juices and fat to run and drip into the tray below. The slits should be in between the grilling sections as per the diagram. Okay so now start up the Weber Q on high , close the lid and let it pre-heat for around 20 minutes , this is vital , do not shorten this period as it needs to have a good pre-heat for pork.

Getting the perfect crackling on your Weber Q

Once the Weber Q has pre-heated , place the roast pork in the BBQ and let cook on high for 25minutes , do not open the lid during this time , at the end of 25 minutes , lift the the lid and you will see that your crackling is now perfect , close the lid ,  reduce your Weber Q setting to roasting and set your timer for 1 Hour 5 minutes – do not open the cover during this period. At the end of the time open the lid and you will see the most unbelievable piece of roast pork sitting in front of you. Now it is extremely important at this point that you let the roast pork remain and rest inside the Weber with the lid closed for approximately 20 minutes . This allows for all the juices to flow through the pork, after around 20 minutes you can now cut and prepare for serving.

Cooking times for the Weber Q and cooking times for roast pork are based on the following -  30 minutes of cooking for every 1lb or 500 gms , this will ensure the best roast pork ever on your Weber Q

Cooking your turkey in an oven for Christmas doesn’t have to be a stressful experience , follow these simple steps to have a succulent well cooked turkey on your table for Xmas day. Oven Cook turkey are the best tasting way of enjoying your turkey.

1. Always preheat your oven to around 300F , whilst the oven is preheating place a baking full of water and chicken stock on the bottom of the oven , this will prevent it from drying out and will also infuse abit of extra taste throughout the turkey

2. Now in a separate baking dish place the turkey breast side up , ensure that you have used some baking paper to avoid the turkey sticking , melt some butter with some garlic and baste the turkey all over , now using two layers of foil cover the entire turkey so it is fully sealed , this will let the turkey baste in the natural juices , cook for around 2 hours and remove foil for the last 20 minutes . At this point baste the entire turkey with juices from the dish.

How to cook turkey legs

Turkey legs are one of the most enjoyable parts of the turkey , these simple steps will ensure that your turkey legs are fully cooked and will taste absolutely unbelievable on Xmas day , become the envy of your family and friends

1. PreHeat oven to 300F , place a dish in the bottom of the oven filled with water and chicken stock , again this infuses the turkey with some extra flavour.

2. Now in a pan melt some butter , garlic , paprika and a slight dash of lime , heat so that butter is hot but not burning , slightly brown each turkey leg and place in a large baking dish , cover all turkey legs with some home made chutney , fully seal with foil and cook for approximately 1hour , check after this time to see if ready.

Any successful cooking of a turkey is dependant on how long to cook turkey per pound , follow my easy to read guide that will ensure your turkey is cooked perfect everytime.

1. Very simply for every 1 pound of turkey cook for approximately 15minutes , a 4 pound turkey will need approximately 1hour in a preheated oven , this only a guide but this ensure that you dont overcook your turkey.

Reduce your normal cooking time by 25% when cooking your turkey in a convection oven , many convection ovens will have presetting on them that allow you to input the weight of your turkey and then it will cook according to that weight. Continually baste the turkey to ensure that it doesnt dry out and that all the juices are put back into the meat of the turkey

Like many of us over the last few days we have moved alot of blogs on to the upgraded WordPress 3.3, wordpress 3.3 not working after 3.3 upgrade   Apart from the normal upgrade problems that we seem to have , I have been reading about so many users experiencing the loss of their visual editor in WordPress 3.3 . This seems to be a random occurrence effecting only some blogs , whilst totally leaving many blogs alone. Follow the following steps to restore your editor in wordpress 3.3 , to ensure that you are back up and posting you must follow in the exact order as detailed below.

5 Steps to restore your visual editor in WordPress 3.3

1. Through your admin panel in WordPress , disable all plugins and leave them disabled until the finish of these steps

2. Now through your wordpress admin panel go into users , click on your username and edit settings , at the top you will see the area to enable or disable the visual editor , click on this to disable , yet definately disable this visual editor for the time being.

3. Now through the wordpress admin panel go into your posts and click on one of them to edit , you should now see your text in the post , this will be in Html format , exit out of this area back to the main admin area.

4. Click on appearance and change your theme to Twenty Eleven , active the theme and click F5 to clear the cache. Once you have done this now go back into your user settings , edit your profile and enable the visual editor , always remember to save your settings at the bottom of the screen.

5. Again click on one of your posts to edit and you should now see the visual editor has begun working , exit out of this area back to the main admin area and change your theme back to the original theme that you were using.

6. Now go thru and re-activate each plugin one at a time , if after activating a plugin your editor is not working than you have to keep the plugin de-activated until it is updated to be wordpress 3.3 compliant.

Restoring your Visual Editor in WordPress 3.3 via FTP

1. Login in to your FTP account , under public_html find your site , proceed to wp_content / plugins, rename this folder to oldplugins , now log into your WordPress admin account and see if your visual editor is working , if it is then again it is a plugin related conflict , if it is not working , manually upload the wp-includes folder and overwrite the existing folder. This should have your site up and running again.

4.  You can also use the Apple utility that is supplied , GRAB , this is located under Applications – Utilities  Folder , this is mainly used if you are wanting to save your screen shot in a TIFF format. It is simple to use and very easy on resources . Once you have started the GRAB application you will have several modes that you can capture , Window-Screen or Timed Screen. If you choose the selection mode it basically allows you to grap certain areas of the screen by moving and draging the mouse.

5.  A neat feature is the Timed Screen which basically when selected allows you to setup your screen and will capture the screen in approximately 10 seconds, this allows you to open folders, applications and sub folders. A great way of having your desktop fully prepared.
